The regular council meeting was called to order by Mayor Jay Branson. All members present.
MINUTES: Minutes from the May 4 2026 meeting read and approved.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Mayor Branson told Council he has not heard back from Toledo Edison about placing the Veteran banners on the poles. He said right now, we can only do the ones downtown and those will be done for Memorial Day.
Mayor Branson said the Memorial Day parade will start at 10:15 am and will go from the library to the cemetery. There will be a chicken BBQ at the VFW following the parade.
Ordinance 2-26 for the Cybersecurity policy had a 2nd reading.
Ordinance 3-26 Amending Section 9 of Ordinance 4-18 had a 1st reading. This ordinance changes the removal dates to April 1st and November 1st and all flowers wll be removed, not just seasonal.
Mayor Branson received information from First Energy they are submitting rate increases to the Ohio Board.
OLD BUSINESS: At the last meeting Kris had a donation request from the Maumee Valley Civic Theater. Council had requested more information of recent donations. Kris provided them with this information and it was decided to not donate.
NEW BUSINESS:
UTILITIES: Jake told Council the company doing the lead service line verification has been delayed but should be starting around May 26 and will run until June 2. This will still be done in time that we will be compliant with the Ohio EPA.
STREETS AND SIDEWALKS: Jake gave an update on the Vactor. He said they found some piping that was rotted and leaking and some fittings and valves that need to be replaced. This would be an additional $3,761.79. Jake added that there were other various items that needed to be repaired or replaced totaling $6,249.61. These repairs total $10,011.40. Councilman Smith made a motion to make the additional repairs, seconded by Councilwoman Bennett. All members voted yes by roll call vote.
SAFETY:
PARK: Mayor Branson told Council the Youth Baseball is asking for new bases at the T-ball field. Council all agreed to not make this purchase.
The parking area at Steward Park has been dug out and will be finished soon. Also, the portable potty has been delivered.
CEMETERY:
ZONING: Meeting tonight.
FINANCE: Kris told Council the Cemetery Capital Outlay needed to be increased due to the purchase of new signs and buying back 4 graves. Kris asked to raise it $500. Councilwoman Alexander made a motion to increase the Cemetery Capital Outlay $500, seconded by Councilwoman Miller. All members voted yes by roll call vote.
PAY BILLS: Councilwoman Alexander made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Councilwoman Miller. All members voted yes by voice vote.
GENERAL: Due to lack of quorum, the June 1st meeting will be moved to June 2nd.
At 6:20 Councilwoman Alexander made a motion to go into executive session to discuss the Cybersecurity policy, seconded by Councilman Brown. All members voted yes by roll call vote.
Councilman Smith made a motion to exit executive session, seconded by Councilwoman Alexander. All members voted yes by roll call vote.
It was decided to invite Ed from EK Computer to the June 15th meeting to have some questions answered.
